Leopold Stokowski: Stringfield A Negro Parade - A Symphonic Patrol for Orchestra

Subtitled "A Symphonic Patrol for Orchestra," the tone poem entitled "A Negro Parade" was composed by Lamar Stringfield (1897-1959) in 1931. It's popularity encouraged its frequent inclusion in concert performances through the 1930's and 1940's. The composer suggested that the work portrayed the march of the slaves towards freedom. Stokowski premiered the piece, and in he conducts the NBC Symphony Orchestra, date unknown.
