The bangdi is mainly popular in the north part of China, used for accompaniment or solo in Chinese opera.

The bangdi is made of bamboo, and is around 40 cm in length. Similar to the piccolo, it has a mouthpiece, 6 open finger holes, and several auxiliary finger holes.
