On October 25, 1984 Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson Was Born In Santa Barbara, California. As The Middle Child Of Pastor Parents, Katy Was Introduced To The Music World At Age Nine When She Began Singing In Church.



Growing Up In A Very Religious Family, Katy Was Limited When It Came To Watching Tv And Listening To Music. She Told Entertainment Weekly, "the Only Things I Was Allowed To Listen To Were The Sister Act 1 And 2 Soundtracks." At Age 13, She Learned To Play Guitar And Began Singing Contemporary Christian Music. During This Time, She Rebelled Against Her Strict Upbringing And Decided To Pierce Her Own Nose. Two Years Later, She Started Making Trips To Nashville, Writing Her Own Music And Recording Demos. She Released Her First Gospel Album In 2001 Titled "Katy Hudson."

Unfortunately, The Album Wasn't Successful But That Didn't Stop The Determined Young Artist. She Changed Her Last Name To Perry, Which Was Her Mother's Maiden Name, Because Katy Believed She Would Be Mistaken For Actress Kate Hudson.

Katy Then Moved To Los Angeles At Age 17 Where She Began Working With Rock Producer, Glen Ballard.

After Three Record Deals That Fell Through, Katy Finally Caught The Attention Of Capitol Records In 2007. Although Most People Believe That I 'Kissed A Girl' Was Katie's First Single, It Was Infact 'ur So Gay' Which Has A Strikingly Similar Tune To I Kissed A Girl.

Perry's Career Blasted Off When She Released Her Next Single "i Kissed A Girl." The Song Reached The Top Of The Charts During The Summer Of 2008.

The Album Stood Out In More Ways Than One. The Sweet-loving Singer Made Her Record Scented. It Obviously Worked, The Record Debuted At Number One On The Billboard 200 And Sold More Than 2.6 Million Copies In The Country.

In October Of 2010, Perry Married British Comedian Russell Brand In India. A Wedding Complete With A Procession Of Camels, Elephants, Horses, Fire Jugglers And Even A Few Snake Charmers. The Party Didn't Last Long Though. The Couple Split In April Of 2012 Amid Rumours That Katy Wasn't Ready To Start A Family.
