2010 Bohème Artists
Stephen Coste­llo and soprano Ailyn Pérez, both making their Cincinnati Opera debuts. Returning after her success as Madame Mao in Nixon in China (2007) is soprano Georgia Jarman, who takes on the role of Musetta. Marco Caria, who brought down the house as Rodrigo in last seasons Don Carlo, sings the role of Marcello. Metro­politan Opera regular and Cincinnati resident Thomas Hammons appears in the comic role of Benoit. John Keenan conducts.




2010 Otello Artists
THE OPERA Otello, Giuseppe Verdi's penultimate opera, is the culmination of a lifetime of opera masterpieces and his swan song in the tragic genre. Keeping cl­osely to Shakespeares play, Otello follows the tragedy of the Moorish generals love for his beautiful wife Desdemona, his deception by the incomparably evil Iago, and the terrifying consequences of doubt ­and jealousy.

THE CAST: Italian tenor Antonello Palombi as Otello. Here is a tenor with that exciting, emotionstirring, head-turning Italianate sound, writes The Seattle Times. The stunning young Italian soprano Maria Luigia Borsi is Desdemona in her U.S. debut. On the podium is acclaimed maestro Robert Spano who has, according to The New York Times, that great skill in a conductor of making every performance radiate joy.




2010 Die Meistersinger Artists
THE CAST: Maestro James Levine, music director for the Metropolitan Opera and Cincinnati native, conducts the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra along with stars from the most recent Metropolitan Opera production of Die Meistersinger: the powerful bass James Morris as Hans Sachs and the lovely Korean-Americ­an soprano Hei-Kyung Hong as Eva. Cincinnati Opera regular Richard Margison, who returns to the Music Hall stage after his lauded performance as Radames in Aida (2007), takes on the tenor role of Walther. Internationally-renowned Sir Thomas Allen makes his Cincinnati Opera debut as Beckmesser.
