On June 15, 1994, Mr. Rostropovich, a Soviet and Russian cellist and conductor, discussed his view of the current conditions in Russia, gathered from personal experience and prior to his exile. The retired music director of the National Symphony Orchestra also spoke about his return to Russia after the fall of communism.
