Ferdinand David (20 January 1810 in Hamburg -- 19 July 1873 in Klosters) was a German virtuoso violinist and composer.

It is one of the first pieces composed for the trombone. It was dedicated to
 Karl Traugott Queisser who was a famous soloist and also played
in the Gewandhaus Orchestra under Mendelssohn.
